Hibiscus rosa-sinensis The tropical hibiscus bears red flowers which are then dried. They impart a slightly tart and slightly sweet citus type flavor. Use them to crown a steak, just as you are removing it from the grill or use in a salad dressing for a very exciting flavor sensation. It is high in vitamins and minerals. There is some limited research that shows that it might be helpful in reducing high blood pressure and help lower LDL cholesterol. There is no hard scientific evidence to support this, however.
