Our Story & Legacy
Colonel De Gourmet Herbs & Spices is a store that offers over 500 culinary herbs, spices and custom blends. It all started with a man named De Stewart, who worked at his grandfather’s poultry and fish market. After the market's closing, his father and grandfather opened a produce market where De continued to work, and this sparked his lifelong love of all things culinary. In 2005, De and his wife started selling spices, herbs, and blends at Farmers’ Markets, and a year later, they opened their first store at the historic Findlay Market in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sadly, De passed away in 2018, but his legacy continues with his wife and son running the business.
Our goal is to help everyone from the everyday home cook to the finest chefs by offering a variety of spices to make cooking even more tasty.
