Onion Granules

Big onion flavor in a little sprinkle! Onion granules bring savory flavor and a touch of sweetness to everyday cooking. These dried onion pieces are coarser than onion powder and soften as they absorb moisture.

Uses

Add to soups, stews, sauces, gravies, marinades, and seasoning rubs. Mix into burgers, meatloaf, rice, or creamy dips for an easy boost of onion flavor. Give dips and dressings a little resting time before serving so the granules can soften and the flavors blend.

From the Colonel

In most kitchens of the world, the onion is considered almost a staple. Thought to have originated in central Asia, it is now grown worldwide. It’s a key ingredient in mirepoix—a mixture of diced onions, carrots, and celery used to season sauces, soups, and stews.

Two Quick Recipes

Creamy Onion Dip
Mix 1 cup sour cream with 1 tablespoon onion granules, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, and black pepper to taste. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving with chips or fresh vegetables.

Savory Onion Rice
Combine 1 cup long-grain white rice, 2 cups broth, 2 teaspoons onion granules, and 1 tablespoon butter in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, cover, and simmer on low for 15–18 minutes, until tender and the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat, let stand covered for 5 minutes, and fluff.
