Cracked Black Pepper
Big pieces, bold pepper flavor! Also known as butcher block pepper, this coarsely cracked black pepper brings a rich, spicy bite and satisfying texture to your cooking.
Uses
Press onto steaks and roasts for a peppery crust, or mix into burgers, rubs, and marinades. Add to soups, sauces, and roasted vegetables. Its coarse texture also makes it a flavorful finishing touch for salads and potatoes.
From the Colonel
Pepper was once so valuable that it was used as currency in some places. Today we’re spoiled by how plentiful it is. While it’s wonderful on meat and savory dishes, try black pepper on strawberries for an amazing taste.
Two Quick Recipes
Butcher Block Steak Rub
Mix 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, and ½ teaspoon smoked paprika. Lightly coat 1½–2 pounds of steak with oil, then press on the seasoning before grilling or pan-searing.
Peppered Balsamic Strawberries
Toss 2 cups sliced strawberries with 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar, and ¼ teaspoon cracked black pepper. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving on their own or spooning over vanilla ice cream.
