Bixa orellana This red seed is used in many ethnic cuisines. It is used similarly to the way we use paprika in the US. It is a main ingredient in Sazon seasoning. It lends its bright red color to anything you use it in. Many times this seed is used to add color to foods. It has a similar sweetness to saffron but is far less expensive.
