Growing up in Kentucky, it didn’t take long for me to learn that bean soup was a staple food. We had it at least once a month. We use onion, bell peppers, celery, carrot, basil, marjoram, sea salt, black pepper, and tomato to make Kentucky Bean Soup Mix. This combination is a great soup and stew starter for many other types of soups and stews. 2 tablespoons for 4 quarts of water with 1 lb. bag of beans. We suggest Great White Northern Beans.
