Known in Europe as queen of the meadows and called “reinette” by the Dutch which means little queen. This plant is native to Europe and Asia, but has been naturalized in North America. The leaves are used to flavor soups or stews. It was said to be Queen Elizabeth I’s favorite strewing herb. For thousands of years many pungent herbs were strewn about to mask and cover unpleasant orders. Thus a predecessor of Glade Plug-ins.
